Detto 0.5.0-beta.30

Released: 2026-08-24

• The “Free trial” card no longer appears on a paid licence. A style rule gave those panels an explicit display, which overrode the hidden attribute: they stayed on screen showing the placeholder text written in the page — “14 days left” on an account that had bought Detto weeks earlier.
• The trial counter now behaves exactly as intended: it runs while the trial lasts, stays at zero once it ends with the account still connected, and disappears for good the moment the licence is paid.
• A build check now verifies that every panel the app hides can actually be hidden, so a stylesheet change cannot silently bring these ghost cards back.

• Three trial bugs fixed. Detto no longer signs you out when the trial ends: your account stays connected and the app offers to buy, with a Buy button right in the account section.
• Switching to a purchased account no longer leaves the old “Free trial” card behind — the trial state is now cleared whenever the account changes.
• Connect account works again after an abandoned sign-in. The activation window used to leave the dashboard waiting forever, which made the button do nothing until a restart.

• When a free trial ends, Detto no longer signs you out. Your account stays connected, the app tells you the trial is over and takes you straight to the purchase — instead of asking you to sign in again to a account you never left.
• Buy the licence and everything comes back on its own: dictation, and any updates released while the trial was over, checked for immediately rather than at the next hourly round.

• During the free trial Detto now shows how many days are left, in the sidebar where weekly progress usually sits and next to your account. Before, it said “Lifetime license” to everyone.
• Nothing is locked during the trial: every feature is available, and the countdown turns red in the last three days.

• Detto can now be tried free for 14 days. Create an account, download, dictate — no card, and after fourteen days it stops and you decide.
• If your trial ends, Detto now says so and points you to the purchase instead of asking you to connect an account you already have.

• The dashboard now reopens at the size and position you left it. If you had it on a screen that is no longer connected, it comes back visible instead of somewhere you cannot reach.
• The diagnostic log no longer asks the disk about itself on every line. It was two synchronous calls per entry on the process that handles your shortcuts, and during a dictation there are many entries.

• Detto now saves the last dictation to your history even if you quit the moment it finishes. Writing the history off the main thread made it faster but asynchronous, and that was one consequence too many.
• Widened the safety limit that hands your shortcut back when something hangs, so it can no longer interrupt a dictation that was simply slow.

• The destination window title is sent to the cleanup provider again, because it is the clearest hint about where your text is going. The new Settings switch stays, so you can turn off that one thing without losing the rest.
• Update checks now run once an hour instead of every fifteen minutes. Detto still checks at launch and whenever you open the dashboard, so nothing arrives later than before in practice.

• Snippet expansions are no longer sent to the text cleanup provider: they are substituted on your computer before anything leaves it. The window title is still sent, because it tells the cleanup where you are writing, but Settings can now switch that off on its own.
• A transcription that fails for a network or provider reason no longer costs you the recording: it is kept in memory for a few minutes and the bubble offers to send it again.
• Detto no longer waits on a cleanup provider that never answers, and releases the hotkey instead of leaving dictation silently unavailable.
• Fixed the bubble jumping to a corner and back when a drag starts or ends, and stopped a dictation started right after a drag from losing its recording indicator.
• The vocabulary hint sent to the speech model is now written in the language you dictate, instead of always in Italian.
• Long dictations keep their paragraph breaks, and the cleanup no longer runs out of room on long structured text.
• Settings can export your dictionary, snippets, learned corrections and to-dos to one file, and import one by merging it with what you already have.

• Fixed Captured Language so totals and supporting text reflow cleanly without overlap from narrow windows through full-width dashboards.
• Let the Last 42 Days chart use the available card height, making the activity rhythm easier to read instead of leaving unused space.
• Smoothed bubble dragging with more direct pointer tracking and steadier movement toward every screen edge.
• Made Weekly progress honest when only part of the comparison history exists, clearly flagging the comparison as partial instead of implying a complete week-over-week baseline.

• Corrected the dictation bubble’s geometry and motion on all four screen edges, with consistent transitions between collapsed, hover, listening, processing, and ready states.
• Centered the Home microphone control and refined its spacing so the primary dictation action is immediately clear.
• Brought Insights closer to the approved Voice Journal concept with clearer hierarchy, balanced analytics cards, and more legible activity views.
• Moved Snippets and Scratchpad into the same premium visual system as the rest of Detto without changing their workflows.
• Rebuilt To-do around a clearer project-and-task layout, including project badges with initials for faster scanning.
• Aligned the News timeline and made release cards adapt cleanly across wide, compact, and narrow windows.

• Shortened the website introduction, switched its progress indicator to classic light blue, and replaced the text action with an accessible skip icon.
