Is the license really lifetime?
Yes. You pay €22 once and your license remains active forever, including every future update. No subscription, no renewal, no hidden tiers.
How many devices can I use it on?
One license covers two personal installations. Activation links each PC to your account (Google or email sign-in); you can remove a device from the Account page and link a different one whenever you want. The installer file itself can be copied, but activation always requires your account.
How do updates arrive?
Detto checks a protected update channel and shows a notification in the on-screen island. Download, install, and restart are automatic. Updates are differential where possible, so they stay small — and they are included for life.
Which AI keys do I need?
Two, both free: a Groq API key for speech-to-text and an Ollama key for text cleanup — or a local Ollama installation, which needs no key at all. Creating both takes about a minute each; you paste them once into Settings. OpenAI can also be configured as an alternative speech-to-text provider, and in auto mode Detto falls back to the other configured provider if one has a hiccup.
Why does Windows warn me during installation?
Detto is brand new, so at first launch Windows SmartScreen may say the app is unrecognized. That happens to every young app while it builds its reputation — it is not malware: activation runs through your account. Click "More info", then "Run anyway", and you are in.
Does it work in every Windows app?
Yes. Detto types at the cursor of whatever application has focus — browsers, email clients, chat, office suites, IDEs. Hold Ctrl+Win from anywhere, speak, release.
Which languages are supported?
The interface comes in English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese. Dictation auto-detects the spoken language.
Can I dictate quietly or whisper?
Yes. Detto normalizes microphone levels automatically, so quiet or whispered speech still transcribes accurately — handy in open offices or late at night.
